Chinese consumer electronics manufacturer Xiaomi had been one of the most successful smartphone companies in the last couple of years with the company offering a wide range of smartphones at incredibly affordable prices. Xiaomi’s Mi flagship smartphone line-up has been incredibly successful commercially going up against the big flagships of the tech giants of today like Apple or Samsung. Now there is no doubt surrounding the fact that the upcoming Mi 6 from the Chinese company will feature significant ramp-ups from its predecessor and with the latest technological developments, the forthcoming device might just feature a lot more.
Xiaomi Mi 6 Smartphone Specifications
Design and Display
Xiaomi’s Mi flagship smartphones have been a huge hit among the market and itr seems that the next in-line device is pegged to go for a make-over on the design front. The Mi 6 from Xiaomi is supposed to have a 100% screen-to-body ratio completely omitting the bezels on the smartphone along with the home button moving the fingerprint scanner to the rear panel of the smartphone. The Mi 6 is expected to sport a 5.7 inch Super AMOLED touch screen display offering 2K resolution as well as featuring Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
The Previous flagship from Xiaomi, the Mi 5s featured a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset and many formed the assumption that the Mi 6 will feature the same. However, these assumptions failed to materialize as the Mi 6 is slated to feature Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 chipset which the company launched in collaboration with Samsung at the recently concluded CES 2017 in Las Vegas. According to the chipset manufacturers, the new fabrication process makes the chipset up to 30 percent more efficient while offering performance improvement of 27 percent. Qualcomm also claims that Snapdragon 835 will provide 40% more battery backup, which means higher battery backup irrespective of the size or density of the battery.
Today, we are living in a world where 4G connection and high-end applications are a common thing on everybody’s smartphones. These features, although super convenient come at a cost of the device’s battery life as they consume a lot of charge in the running process and hence, more and more smartphone companies are striving to incorporate better, more powerful batteries in their devices. Xiaomi has already impressed on the battery front with the Mi 5 and they are looking to improve more on that with the upcoming Mi 6 smartphone. Owing to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 chipset, the Mi 6 will feature Qualcomm’s Quickcharge 4.0 feature in addition to a mammoth 3,800 mAh Li-ion battery. The new feature from Qualcomm is 20% faster and 30% more power efficient than Quick Charge 3.0. For a user, this means five hours of battery backup on five minutes of charge. Qualcomm says that the Quick Charge 4.0 can charge a nil-charged battery up to 50% in just 15 minutes via USB Type-C based adapters.
The last device, Xiaomi Mi 5 was rolled out in September 2016 and was met with a huge amount of positive acclaim from consumers. Keeping in mind that the company will plan in maintaining a minimum gap between the launch of its flagships, our best bet is that the Mi 6 will be rolled out sometime in April-May at the end of Q1 of 2017.
